Delegation from BPDM visited Lahti in June 2010

The working visit of the delegation from BPDM concentrated on water protection and environmental awareness raising issues. The delegation consisted of officials from Department of Water Affairs, Rand Water and Environmental and Waste Unit of BPDM. A North South Water Protection seminar was arranged as a part of the working visit to exchanged information concerning water protection activities. Also, visits were paid to the Lake Vesijärvi Foundation, Water Company Lahti Aqua Ltd and Sustainable Development and Consumption Centre. In addition, site visits were arranged to demonstrate storm water controlling and wetland creation initiatives from the Lahti Region. On the last day of the visit, the delegation travelled to Helsinki, where they had meetings at the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. In the evening, the delegation attended to the Opening event of World Cup 2010 in YLE hosted by the Embassy of South Africa.
